Meditation

I really like the definition that meditation is “anything that quiets the clamoring of the intellect”. Using that definition, I meditate several times a day, meaning I frequently seek out peaceful situations in order to quiet my mind, and feel the peace and harmony of the universe. I do things like sitting by a tree and communing with it.  I also tend to avoid needless chaos or most news stories that are really none of my business, anyways. I also do a more formal “healing” meditation at least once a day.

For my healing meditation I generally start by sitting in a half-lotus position, clearing my mind of needless thoughts or worries, and focusing on my breath or being at peace. This process used to be impossible at times or take several minutes. The process is now instantaneous. I next focus on the feeling of love/God which I describe in “Religious/Belief System”. That feeling begins around my heart center and I then allow the feeling to grow and become more powerful (I have found that forming images of loved things can help). Using my intent, I then send that feeling into my hands (they begin to tingle). I place my hands over the part of my body I wish to heal and direct the power/energy there.

This process has gotten quite a bit stronger over the years and I have used various sources of energy/power. They are all a bit different and all work for me.
